Sugar Factory Project

In September 2009, Fayum Gas Company signed a contract to build, operate and maintain the necessary system to supply the sugar factory in Itsa with its needs from natural gas.

The scope of work for the project included the following:

  • Preparing all the technical and financial studies necessary.
  • Issuance of licenses and permits.
  • Procurement of materials.
  • Constructing a high pressure transmission steel pipeline, 70 bar; 8-inch in diameter, with a total length of about 30 kilometers extending from the (PRMOS) at the borders of Fayum to Itsa where the factory is located.
  • Supplying and installing pressure reduction and metering station (PRMS); (70/7 bar; capacity 30,000 m3/hr)
  • Constructing the under/above ground 7 bar internal networks from the (PRMS) up to the boilers and factory appliances.   

FGC commenced the implementation of the project in March, 2010with plans to complete and commission the pipeline supplying natural gas to the sugar factory by 2012.
